Codes and Conventions of my Trailer.

Iconography
The typical iconography that I will be using for my film trailer will be the setting, which I will set my film in a city. I think this is a typical setting for the genre of my film as it represents a cosmopolitan and middle class. I will also incorporate an engagement, I think you see this 75% of the time in a romantic film. Other conventions that I will use will be my two characters falling in love, a break up and one of my characters overcoming a death and moving on.

Cinematic Style
Eventhough I am not shooting in a studio, I plan to shoot my trailer in high key style lighting. This will create the right mood that I want my trailer to portray. I will also try to stay away from grungey areas within the City I have chosen to shoot in. This will maintain the cosmopolitan theme throughout the trailer. Another convention that I will use will be a piece of elegant music by a french composer. The reason why I am using this piece, is because I think it suits the style of my film very well, as it the score is relaxing, happy yet sad. Which helps me tie it in with the death of one of the characters.

For the titles and text within my trailer, I will be using dark text on a light background, this helps create a light and happy mood. If I were to produce a horror, I would have used a light text on a dark background. For example red on black.

Representation
The class that my trailer represents is middle class. The reason why I have chosen to portray the middle class within my trailer, is because I think this will be a great chance for my film to flourish in attracting both working and middle social classes. I think that it will attract the working class, as my film will act as a diversion from their everyday life, and will allow them to become apart of the world and lifestyle that my characters live.
The reason why I think that the middle class of our society will show some interest in my film, is because I plan to edit and piece it together so it becomes a mature and elegant piece of media.
