Over all I am pleased with the way that my products have turned out, especially my blog and my trailer as this was a new field that I was stepping into. I think that my audience feedback has helped me decide that I have constructed a trailer that is professional and well executed.
I think that the skills that I have used for this project will help me through life, as I now have the basic skills to edit videos in Premier Pro, which I am sure that I will expand on later in life.

Evaluation 4
How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
Production :-
For the recording of my footage, I used my Canon 550D dSlr, the reason why I chose this camera instead of using the colleges own film cameras, is simply because I was used to using my own camera, plus I think the file quality is also a bit better, being able to shoot in HD using 18 megapixels.
Tripod :-
I used a tripod whilst filming, this was to reduce camera shake as this could have looked unprofessional if it wasn't intentional such as a point of view shot.
Post Production :p
Adobe...
Photoshop :-
I used photoshop CS5 to edit the photographs and put together my film poster and magazine, I have also used this program to create the text within my trailer. The reason why I have used this program is because I think that this is one of the most professional programs out there, and I am used to using this program especially with the experience that I gained in my first year of doing Media Studies.
Premier Pro :-
I used this program to put together and edit the trailer, I found this quite difficult at first, but by the end I feel quite comfortable with using it. The reason why I found it difficult at first was because it is the first year that I have chosen to do a moving picture product therefore I hadn't used a video editing software before. I have quite enjoyed using this program, and I think that this allow me to create more professional trailers and videos in the future.
Soundbooth :-
I used this to clear my live sound, as I used my camera to record them and I found that using my camera would sometimes pick up grainy noise and other unwanted sounds. This allowed me to take these out as best as possible. However to overcome this problem in the future, I plan to use a mic however I was unable to get one for this product.
Research and Planning :-
For my research and planning I have used YouTube to host my vlogs, where I discuss my various blog posts and my first evaluation. I have also used a flash website which is called 'Prezi' which is an online presentation software site, which is similar to Microsoft Powerpoint but more updated and modern. I found this quite difficult to use at first but when I got the hand of it, i didn't mind using it as I have used this program for my second evaluation.
Evaluation 3
I learned from my audience feed back that they were pleased with my product and they all were happy with the conventions and the plot that is portrayed in my trailer.
The only criticism that my audience had was to make my poster more obvious, however I think that making my poster too obvious would take away the curiosity that my poster and magazine cover will create in harmony with my trailer.
I had also created a survey for my audience to fill in that can be viewed here :-
http://rabbitsandcoke.blogspot.com/2011/10/target-audience-questionnaire.html
this feedback helped me decide what my audience would want to see in a romantic genre film.

Evaluation Part 1
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
My media product incorporates the forms and conventions of real media products through the use of the two characters who are romantically linked with each other, you will find these characters in many Romantic genre films for example; in Pierre Salvadori's Priceless, Anne Fontaine's Coco avant Chanel and Michael Patrick King's Sex and the City.
The ways that the characteristics and storyline conforms to this type of genre is through the main plot of my story. My product follows the basic structure of a real romantic genre film, as it shows you the two characters meeting, falling in love, arguing and in my trailer the death of one of the characters and the progression of another. These conventions can be seen in films such as Coco Avant Chanel, where Coco first meets her lover at a Cabaret Bar/ Stage Performance in France, he then takes her under his wing whilst she as a person finds a place to belong, which in her case is couture making. This challenges the stereotyping of the male dominance, as the male character shown as the richer being takes the vulnerable woman under his wings. This role soon changes, as the story progresses the male character falls in love with Tautou's character, this gives us the main narrative of the story. In my story the two characters fall in love with each other at the scene they met. Another convention that my product follows is a complication within the plot, complications within real products can be seen within all three of my main inspiration pieces. In Sex and the City, the main complication is the part where the character 'Big' doesn't turn up to his wedding with Carrie. The story then follows Carrie and show's us the audience how she battles with the rejection of being stood up at the alter, as the story progresses it shows the audience that Carrie is a strong character and can overcome the rejection and also take Big back at the end, resulting in a happy ending. The storyline in Coco Avant is similar but different, and is more relatable to my product than Sex and the City, as this film shows us the main Character coping with the death of a loved one and how she is able to overcome the death, which is what the basic storyline of my film is. The way that Anne Fontain has included a complication within Priceless, is very different to my other two texts, as Pricless is very materialistic, and shows us the Female character being a stereotypical gold digger turned head over heals loved up girl by the end. The way that the complication is introduced within Priceless is through the males lack of money to charm the female.

How did I attracted/ Addressed my audience.
I made sure that I stuck to the conventions of a real romance media product, by including the stereotypical couple who fall in love when they first meet. However I have added a twist to create a more interesting plot by killing off one of my main characters.
I have also addressed my audience through the colours I have used within my trailers text, as I have chosen to use light upon dark text and background and vice versa, the reason why I have done this is because I think this colour combination is quite fashionable and the audience will be able to relate the colours to the type of film that it is.
I also attracted my audiences attention through the obscurity of the trailer, as not a lot within the trailer is given. This is so that the audience will become interested enough to go and see it at the cinemas. I have also used close ups and medium shots to show diversity through out the trailer, as a trailer that has a continuity of the same shot type will become boring to the audience, and they will soon loose interest in my product.

Final Magazine Cover
This is the final version of my film magazine, the things that I have changed on my previous version was that I changed the image and position of 'The Cover' sticker, so that the image inside can be seen clearer. I have also changed the sub heading to something more catchy and female orientated.
I also added an issue number, price and date as a forgot to include this in my last edit.

What kind of media insitution might distribute your media product and why?
Magazine :-
The publication house in which I think would distribute my film magazine would be Condé Nast Publications, the reason why I think that they would distribute my magazine is because I think that the films and cover story and movie would be an interest in which the readers of the other magazines that Condé Nast distribute would be interested in. For example I see my magazine as being as the 'Vogue' of the film magazines, as my magazine's style and layout is very up to date yet neat and well presented, therefore appealing to both younger and older generations of the market.
Another reason why I think that Condé Nast would be interested in my magazine is because of the up date'ness of the style of the magazine and professionalism of the images used on the covers, I think that could feature my magazine within their iPad app, which shows that the publication house are also up to date with the technology that they are providing their readers with, which is why I think they would be a good publication house to be distributed by. As the correct social groups and type of people would therefore be exposed to my magazine.

Film Trailer :-
The studious that I think would distribute my film trailer would be Warner Bros. Pictures, the reason why I think that these would distribute my film is because my film is of a similar style genre to the normal films that they distribute for example, Coco Avant Chanel, Harry Potter Series,
The way My Product represents certain social groups
The way that my media product represents the social groups of B,C1 and C2 is through the type of locations, actors and storyline that I have chosen.
The way that the location represents a middle class audience is by shooting in Newcastle, which I think is a very cosmopolitan city, which has a certain modern city charm to it, which is what I wanted. I think this has been illustrated well within my trailer as it is the first scene that the audience will see, therefore setting the trailers locations. I also think that this will help me attract a certain social group, because only certain types of people will be interested in the trailer through the locations chosen. Another location that I chosen, which is similar to Newcastle, is Sunnyside in Sunderland, I think this area appears quite elegant, as the houses are white victorian styled buildings with black railings, which reminds be of the colours of Chanel.
This is a photograph of Newcastle.
Scene from Coco Chanel.
I have chosen this Scene from the Coco Avant Chanel trailer, as I think this bit of the trailer best portrays the type of elegance that is being illustrated throughout the film by the choice of location. In the frame we can see a couple riding horses towards a large house, this will give the viewers the impression that the couple who are riding on the horses are quite wealthy. Even though my trailer isn't about wealthy, I want to portray I type of character, and without the location I don't think I would have been able to achieve this.
The way that my character 'Kate' helps represent a social class is through the outfits and props that I have had her wear and use within the trailer. For example the first out fit that you see Kate in is a casual yet formal chic outfit of a loose red top and leggings with floral high heels. This portrays that the character cares about her appearance therefore taking some time to look presentable and attractive, I think that this will attract a middle class social group as most of the women and men will be interested in fashion, where a few fashion trends can be found throughout my media trailer. The reason why I don't think this will appeal particularly to the social classes of D and E, and especially men is because I don't think they will be particularly interested in the clothes and the fashion as they will probably have more important things going in their life that they don't have the time to read up on the latest trends.
The ways that I think Kate resembles a strong female character seen in my inspiration pieces is through her get up and go attitude of getting on with her life after something tragic had happened. I think she bears a resemblance of the character Coco Chanel in Coco Avant Chanel, as she shows determination and believes in her passion and dreams.
I think that my character could be an idol to younger women, as the ideology behind the character is quite inspirational, and I think that more weaker females who aren't as strong as the Kate's of the real world, will look up to Kate as a character and admire her for continuing with her life and beliefs and not letting it get her down.
The way that I think my movie poster and film magazine represents the selected social classes I have outlined earlier on in my post, is through the organized layour, as I think that the cover looks quite conservative and mature, therefore attracting a more mature audience. I also think that the photographs show elegance and material wealth, as my model Kate looks well presented in her wedding dress and showing a glittering ring. I think this would persuade a middle social class to buy my magazine and to go and see the movie as it would look appealing.

Emailing Alexandre Desplat's management and agent....
Because I have used 'L'Abandon' within my trailer, I thought it would be best if I emailed the composer, Desplat's management and agent to ask permission to use the piece within my trailer.
If I do not receive a reply within the next few weeks, I will take it that they are allowing me to use the piece, otherwise they would have contacted me telling me that they do not give me permission.
If I do not gain permission to use this piece, I will use my plan B which is to use a different piece by a different composer.
